There is a large scale development project for the Miami Beach which will transform the area into an artistic, cultural and residential landmark and since the project is of gigantic proportions there are several architectural practices which will be employed to take care of its parts.
An international creative hub will be developed by Alan Faena, the architectural practice of OMA will design the new Faena Bazaar and Park forging most of the cultural capital of the Collins Avenue and the practice of Rem Koolhaas is the latest addition to the team.
Rem Koolhaas and Oma will focus on the automated parking complex, the combined bazaar and artists-in-residence center and on the arts center which is the most important element in the project.
These projects aim to provide better access to art and culture to the surrounding areas and to become a permanent beacon for culture.
The site is located at the “economic gateway to Latin America” with the luxurious Bal Harbor shops and the Wynwood arts district. the first phase of the project is planned to begin at the end of 2014.
This ambitious project is the brainchild of Alan Faena, a major Argentinian hotelier and real estate developer.
Once complete, Faena District will boast a resort hotel designed by Roman and Williams, an arts and entertainment center courtesy of Rem Koolhaas/OMA, world-class shopping and dining options, and exciting nightlife.
To take advantage of its prime, oceanside location, the district will even feature a hassle-free private dock, perfect for boaters who seek fun on the sea.
