Five Candidates For the Google Lunar X Prize

Google has selected the team that will compete for milestone prizes of «Google Lunar X Prize». This was reported on the project site.

The applicants On the prize of $6 million: Japanese (Hakuto), Indian (Team Indus), German (Part-Time Scientists) and two American teams (Astrobotic and Moon Express). The jury will evaluate the projects in three categories: landing, mobility and quality of pics & video. Awards will be issued in September 2014.

I recall that the Chinese lunar rover «Yùtù» (literally «Jade Rabbit»), for the first time in the last 37 years, successfully sat on the moon on December 15, 2013.
